Grade 1

Welcome to Grade One!

It is our goal in grade one to make the transition from kindergarten into 'big kid school' as enjoyable as possible.

We truly want your children to love school, and we work toward that goal every day. We also love to have extra 'fun' days; Pirate Day, Teddy Bear Picnic, Pajama days, Dr. Suess month, and more!

Students are most successful when parents and teachers work together. We ask that you try to support your child's learning, from home, by reading with your child daily and asking your child what they enjoyed about school that day.

Thank you for joining us this year!

Grade one students will require:

-A labeled water bottle with a push down cap or spout - no screw on or flip top lids please as these too easily tip and spill

-A labeled backpack

-A labeled lunch bag that fits easily inside of the backpack

-Indoor shoes that are appropriate for running in the gym. If shoes have laces, children must be able to tie them well enough, on their own, so that they can stay tied for the day. Otherwise please be sure to send velcro shoes or shoes with spring laces.

-A box of kleenex/ tissues

-Please do NOT send a pencil case - the student will be using baskets in their desks.

-A labeled pair of WIRED over the head headphones inside a large, labeled ziploc bag that can be left at school.  No bluetooth, wireless or earbuds please.

-Please do not send any other items from home.

Homework

  • Home reading - 10 minutes/night (Remember to record your child's minutes).
  • Ask your child what he/she learned today?
